Frequently asked questions
- What happens when my MagicLock subscription ends?
- Everything you already shipped keeps working — the subscription only gates packaging new artifacts, not decryption. Renew when you want to publish again.
- Is the free trial really free?
- Yes. Every capability is free for 48 hours, on 1 device. The 48 hours begin when you first activate a machine — not at sign-up. When it ends you can no longer produce new protected artifacts — everything you already built keeps working. Renew in the customer portal to continue.
- Do I need to be online to run protected apps?
- No. Activation is online once; after that, protected code and models decrypt offline on the authorized machine.
- Can I remotely stop an app I've already shipped?
- Yes — opt in with the cloud kill switch (a paid feature): protect with --web-gate and the artifact checks with the cloud for your approval before it runs. Flip it off in your portal and it stops at its next check, everywhere it is deployed; flip it back on and it resumes — nothing to re-ship. Offline it keeps running for a grace window you choose (1 hour to 30 days). Artifacts built without the flag stay forever offline and can never be remotely revoked.
